Payrule (“we”) provides payroll software to Canadian accounting firms. This policy explains how we handle personal information, following the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. This website

When you request a demo we collect your name, firm, work e-mail, and optionally phone, client count, province and message. We use it only to reply and arrange the demo, and we don’t sell it. The request is sent to us by e-mail through our e-mail provider. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. Payroll data in the Payrule app

Firms use the Payrule app to process payroll for their clients. For that data, the firm (and its client) controls the information and we process it on their behalf under our customer agreement.

• Payroll data is stored and processed in Canada.
• Social Insurance Numbers are encrypted at rest and masked on screen.
• Each firm can access only its own data. Access is by invitation.
• We use personal information only to provide the service.

3. Service providers

We use carefully chosen providers for hosting, e-mail delivery and this website’s content delivery. They may process limited information on our behalf under contract.

4. Retention and your rights

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires. You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you.
